FindADoctor.si

Find US doctors for a condition, procedure or place, with sourced evidence for each doctor.

For AI agents: /llms.txt · JSON API · MCP server card

# FindADoctor.si

> Helps AI agents find US doctors for the person they work for: specialists who focus on a condition near a place, who does the most of a procedure, and checks on named doctors. Free during the trial; no sign-up. Results name the sources and dates behind them. Not medical advice; in an emergency call 911.

About this service, for people and agents: https://findadoctor.si/

## What it has
- About 1.2 million US physicians from official records (NPI registry, Medicare and other CMS files): specialty, practice locations, Medicare 2024 patient and procedure volumes with national ranks for 81 procedures, Part D prescribing, industry payments, federal exclusion list and Medicare opt-out warnings.
- Facts from hospital systems' own doctor pages for about 280,000 doctors (read from October 2026), where the page lists them: specialties, languages, new-patient status, education and board certifications; listed focus areas (as standard MeSH terms) for about 82,000 of them.
- No private doctor rating, award or hospital ranking is included or counted in scores. Specialties come from each physician's NPI taxonomy code and CMS specialty, matched to the specialty names used here by their official names. The hospital and children's hospital websites we read were chosen partly from published lists.
- Scores rank evidence of focus and experience for the need, not quality or outcomes. Insurance cannot be checked here: confirm a plan with the insurer's own directory or by phone.

## Use it (pick one)
- MCP server (Streamable HTTP, no sign-in): https://api.findadoctor.si/mcp
Tools: search_doctors (free short list), get_doctor (evidence for up to 10 doctors at once), lookup_terms, list_procedures, list_specialties, about_database. Server card: https://api.findadoctor.si/mcp/server-card
- JSON API (GET, no sign-in): OpenAPI at https://api.findadoctor.si/openapi.json. Example: https://api.findadoctor.si/api/v1/search?condition=atrial%20fibrillation&city=Phoenix&state=AZ&within_miles=25&medicare_patient=true
  Then: https://api.findadoctor.si/api/v1/doctors?ids=dr_xxxxxxxxxxxx,dr_yyyyyyyyyyyy

## Two steps
1. search_doctors (or /api/v1/search): free short list for a need: name, degree, NPI, specialty, city, distance, warnings, and what the evidence has (detail_has). Up to 10 per search, paging stops at 30: narrow the need or the place instead. For anyone 65 or older or on Medicare pass medicare_patient=true. For a metro area pass city, state and within_miles (25; 5-10 in a dense city).
2. get_doctor (or /api/v1/doctors): the evidence: focus as standard MeSH terms from hospital websites, procedure volumes with national ranks, medical school, phone and addresses, hospital-website facts, languages, new-patient status. Recommend from this, not from the short list. One reply holds about 2-3 doctors (1 with detail=full); the others come back under not_returned_yet, already counted, so ask again for them at no extra cost.

## Daily limits for get_doctor (different doctors opened per UTC day; the same doctor again that day is free)
- Claude and ChatGPT apps (recognized by the network addresses Anthropic and OpenAI publish): ChatGPT 100 per user; Claude a shared allowance for all its users.
- Other connections without an account: 5 per network address.
- With an account key (`Authorization: Bearer dk_...`): 100 per account. During the trial accounts are by invitation: contact@findadoctor.si.
- The free short list has no doctor limit; requests are limited to 30 a minute and 300 a day per network address without an account (60 and 1000 with one).
- When a limit is reached the reply says so and when it resets; tell the person if that limits the answer.

## Privacy
- What you search for (conditions, places, names) is not logged. We keep only daily totals by connection type (numbers only) and, for accounts, daily counts per account.
